In 2017 the Canoe Park is not only hosting different white water offers but also many events to participate in or to visit.

7 - 9th of April: 2017 ICF Canoe Slalom world ranking race Markkleeberg

At the first Canoe Slalom competition of the year top canoe slalom athletes from Germany and international athletes compete in Kayaking and Canadian Canoe disciplines. Exciting races with international top athletes guaranteed!

28 - 30th of April: DKV world cup qualification for Canoe Slalom 2017

The German Canoe Association is looking for the best national athletes to bring them to continental and world cups. Exciting races and decisions at the tenth of a second are guaranteed! Also, the junior canoeists will compete for the highly coveted positions at the junior national team which enables them to participate at the junior world cup and European cup.

5 - 7th of May: XXL-Paddling Festival

This weekend the Canoe Park is going to turn into the Mekka of Canoeing. For the 5th edition of the XXL Paddling Festival workshops, different tryout-offers, test rides with test boats, guided canoe tours, and technique courses are planned.

9 - 11th of May (relays 1, 2, 3), 16  -18th of May (relays 4, 5, 6) and 30th of May (finals): 9th MITGAS school children rafting

At the MITGAS school children rafting the students out of the region are comparing their skills at the white water rafting at the Canoe Park. At the forerun 72 teams will compete against each other. The finals are going to take place between the twelve most qualified teams the 30th of may.

11th of June: Markkleeberg Lake Run

The Markkleeberg Lake Run kicks off into the 7th season. The very attractive route leads in 9 km around the Markkleeberg lake and starts and ends at the Canoe Park. For the youngsters there will be a race of 400m. The max. number of participants is limited to 1,000 (200 children).

29th of June - 2nd of July: 2017 ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup Markkleeberg

To this sport’s highlight we are expecting the international elite of Canoe Slalom. Teams from 40 nations with a total of 300 participants will use the ideal conditions at the Canoe Park. Exciting competitions in all kayaking and Canadian canoe disciplines ensured!

27th of August: 11th Cardboard Boat Race

The Cardboard Boat Race attracts thousands of visitors every year. 15 teams have 3 hours to build a boat out of cardboard and tape. Afterwards, they get to test the boat’s swimming abilities. A lot of fun for young and old!

16 - 17th of September: Fisher Festival

For the 11th time the Fisher Festival is going to take place at the Markkleeberg lake promenade. Visitors can expect a boulevard to stroll through on both days with a lot of fish! On Sunday at 12pm the city competition of enviaM and MITGAS will be hold.

22 - 24th of September: Sparkassen Cross de luxe

„Run fast and get uncomfortable“ is the motto of this ultimate steeplechase at the Markkleeberg lake. Routes of 9km and 18km with a total of 26 hurdles must be conquered. New from 2017: Family Cross de luxe - mud run for the youngest.
